The year 2025 marks the centenary of the birth of Swedish artist Bengt Lindström. To celebrate the occasion, the Bengt Lindström Committee invites you to discover, or rediscover, this passionate artist, whose pictorial touch and expressive medium still captivate us today.
Come and meet this giant of the Far North through several exhibitions, organized in Paris, France, and in Sweden starting this fall.
Who is Bengt Lindström?
Bengt Karl Erik Lindström (Storsjökapell, 3 September 1925 – Sundsvall, 29 January 2008) belongs to a family of pioneering artists who gave 20th-century art a new dimension.
His work, closely linked to the Nordic traditions, quickly gained international recognition due to the power of the themes he explored, and through his vibrant color palette.
Lindström’s influence on the art of his time cannot be underestimated. His sensitivity to Sámi culture and the way he integrated these traditions into his work fostered a new visual expression. Lindström’s unique and highly recognizable work quickly transcended the borders of his native Sweden to conquer the world. His numerous exhibitions in Europe and the United States allowed him to build a solid reputation among the public and garner the trust and esteem of his peers.
